LOFS Fire Responds to Early Morning Reported Structure Fire

***For Immediate Release***

12/8/24- Reported Structure Fire- Winfield Township

  • 3900 block of Brookside DR

Just after 3:20 am LOFSVFF was dispatched for the report of a structure fire with smoke inside the residence. 3501, 3502, 3522, and 3545 responded. Upon arrival 3522’s officer reported nothing showing from the outside, however homeowner stated there was light smoke throughout the home. Thankfully after further investigation it was found to be a leaking water heater that was leaking directly into the furnace causing the smoke to go throughout the home. Both appliances were isolated, no injuries were reported to any homeowners or responders. We would like to thank Hebron Volunteer Fire Department for being our auto aid partner and responding to the scene. We would like to thank Union Volunteer Fire Department and Boone Grove Fire Department for moving to our engine assignment for the apartment building fire that was going on in Crown Point at the same time as this incident. After the conclusion of this incident, we provided standby coverage for both Boone Grove and Hebron Fire until just after 5:30 am while they operated at Crown Point Fire Rescue’s incident.
