2/12/2025- Reported Structure Fire- Winfield Township
7500 Block of E 137th AVE
Just after 10 am LOFSVFF was dispatched for the report of a Structure Fire extending into a residence. 3501, 3602, 3511, 3544, and 3561 responded with Auto-Aid from Hebron Volunteer Fire Department. Upon arrival 1701 noted heavy smoke coming from the rear of the property that was a mobile home. 3511’s crew arrived and began extinguishment of the mobile home and nearby semi storage trailer that had a reported heavy fire load stored inside of it. Due to the limited water supply, extreme temperatures, and reported heavy fire load the incident was upgraded two alarm levels to bring in manpower and tenders to the scene. There were no reported injuries to the residents or any firefighters working on scene. The cause remains under investigation at this time. We would like to thank We would like to Thank Union Volunteer Fire Department, Crown Point Fire Department, Lowell Indiana Fire Department, Lake Dalecarlia Fire Department, Merrillville Fire Department, Boone Grove Fire Department, and Kouts Fire Department for providing tenders and manpower to the scene. We would also like to thank NW Indiana District 1, Lake County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency for bringing their rehab/warming trailer to the scene for rehab for our firefighter’s working the incident. Last but not least, we would like to thank St. John Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for providing station coverage for our area during the incident.
