Stop, Drop & Donate:Origins
For nearly 20 years, we have conducted our Annual Stop, Drop and Donate food drive the first weekend in December.
Our Stop, Drop and Donate program was born in December of 2008 during the Christmas Season when our Fire Chief received a call that one of our local food pantries was nearly empty. With that information, our department banded together and created what became the Stop, Drop and Donate program.
Every year, we drive our apparatus, with lights and sirens, around the subdivisions in our service area and collect food for our food pantries. That first year was such a success, we have continued this tradition every year for nearly 20 years!!
Then, in 2021, we added the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, to also provide toys for our local children.
We collect from both Lake and Porter County subdivisions in one day which, includes all of the areas we provide Protection.
All donations are taken to their respective food pantries (Winfield Twp or Porter Twp) or NWI No Child Hungry and all toys are taken to either Lake County & Porter County Toys for Tots sorting the day of the event. All of which will benefit less fortunate families in our communities.
