News Article: West Porter Fire Protection District Approves 2025 Contract

At a special meeting held this evening (Wednesday, December 4, 2024) the West Porter Township Fire Protection District Board unanimously approved a contract with the Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force (LOFSVFF) for Calendar Year 2025. All told, the contract is an increase of 38% from 2024, for a total of $325,000. This represents a 59% overall increase in funding since 2023, and the largest increase in the district’s history.

For the very first time, we are contracted for Ambulance Service and EMS with the LOFSVFF and no longer dependent on the services from Porter County. This doubles down on our Board’s commitment to provide adequate emergency services to the residents of West Porter Township. This is a vital step to ensuring that we approve a full-time Fire Territory for our residents as we complete our negotiations and begin our public hearings in 2025.

Our contract increases funding to the Fire Force, while providing an additional $40,000 for equipment needs for 2025 and $34,000 (50%) for the payment toward an engine #3511.

This is a testament to our entire boards commitment to providing our residents with both Ambulance/EMS and Fire Services with our partners at the Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force.

The West Porter Township Fire Protection District Board wishes to extend our thank you to Board President Gary Elliot, Vice President Matt Pendowski, Fire Chief Kevin Heerema, Lifetime Member Josh Wyant and the entire Fire Force membership for their collaboration and efforts to getting this contract approved.
