Just before 8:30am on October 7th, LOFSVFF to was dispatched to Boone Grove Fire Department area of Lake Eliza for a reported structure fire. Chief 3501 arrived to find a residential structure on Starr st with smoke coming from the residence, shortly after HFD Chief 1701 arrived. Both Chiefs worked simultaneously to ensure scene safety, residents were evacuated until LOFS engine 3511, and HFD engine 1712 arrived to begin extinguishment.
We would like to thank mutual aid companies from Kouts Fire Department, Lowell Indiana Fire Department, Union Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan Township Volunteer Fire Department, Crown Point Fire Rescue and NW Health EMS for their assistance either on scene or providing station coverage. There were no reported injuries to anyone who worked on scene or the residents. The cause is under investigation at this time.
